Over the past year, six children in Year 5 Willow class at Grove Primary School were chosen to read books and write about them on a blog. We read:
• How to be a Pirate by Cressida Cowell
• The Iron Man by Ted Hughes
• Pirates’n’ Pistols by Chris Mould
• How to live Forever by Colin Thompson
• Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes
As a treat for doing the blog, the bloggers were invited by SCC on a visit to Ipswich on Monday 9th June 2014.
In the morning, we had to be at school for 8:00 am, as the coach left at 8:15 am. It took us an hour and 20 minutes as we had to pick up the other blog schools as well!
When we arrived at Kesgrave Community Centre, we shared some drawings that we had created at school in the style of Chris Mould. After that, Chris Mould told us about his childhood and how he hated school, as the only thing he was good at was art!
Chris Mould then drew a skull which he turned into a compass in front of us! Chris then taught us how to draw a skull like his. He then showed us how he thought of his ideas by writing pirates in a piratey way and drew everything that came into his head on a huge piece of paper. Chris Mould then drew a brilliant dragon breathing fire in front of us again.
At lunchtime, the blog group played games with other children.
After lunch, we showed our interactive presentation and got a reward for being the most creative blog.
The blog group have really enjoyed this experience.
