As the new Principal at Littleport and East Cambs Academy, Lauren Phillips is already putting steps in place to allow the school, its staff and students to reach their full potential.
Lauren, previously Vice Principal at Milton Keynes Academy, started her new role after Easter and is proud to be leading the school into its next stage of development.
Her appointment arrived at a time when the school, which opened in 2017, was being led by Interim Principal, Colin Taylor, following the departure of the previous Principal in Autumn 2021.
Principal Lauren Phillips said: “It is a privilege to have the responsibility to help a school that is situated in a great community and clearly has a huge amount of potential.
“There have been some recent challenges and instability the school has had to deal with, particularly through the pandemic, and I, with the support of a new and energised leadership team, are dedicated to embedding a new direction.
“Our new vision for our students is very simple. To enable all our students to reach their full potential, encouraging them to grow into successful, caring and respectful young people.
“The school is in such a fantastic building with superb facilities and I want to harness this to cultivate a family atmosphere here at Littleport and East Cambs Academy which everyone is proud to be part of.”
The school is part of The Active Learning Trust and the Trust’s motto of “Active learners, Active leaders, Active citizens” will underpin the opportunities for LECA students to develop their academic and personal progress during their time at the academy.
Other recent appointments at the school include a new SENCO and Assistant SENCO to build on the programme of support available to students with SEND.
Stephen Chamberlain, CEO of The Active Learning Trust, said: “Lauren Phillips is an experienced and talented school leader and we welcome her to both the school and our multi-academy trust. With her driven and initiative-taking approach Lauren has already made a positive impression in the school and the community."
“She and her senior leadership team, with the support of the Trust, will work relentlessly to ensure the community of Littleport get a school they can be really proud of.”
Lauren said some highlights over her 17 years working in teaching and education have been setting up the North Hertfordshire Teaching School Alliance and her secondment as part of a school improvement team which led rapid change at a Stevenage school to remove them from special measures.
Lauren has relocated to live in Cambridgeshire and has a range of interests outside of work which include choral singing. With this love of singing, Lauren is keen to build on the wide range of extra-curricular activities to help nurture passions and interests that will transform the rest of students’ lives.
