Cromwell Community College students collected their GCSE results today, joining staff to celebrate the excellent achievements seen by the school.

Jane Horn, Executive Headteacher at Cromwell Community College, which is part of Active Learning Trust shared her delight at the success of all GCSE students.

Jane said "We recognise another year of GCSE results at Cromwell where the majority of pupils will be progressing onto their first choice of Post 16 provision. We are pleased that over 80 pupils will be aiming to join Cromwell Sixth form in September with others pursuing apprenticeships or College courses."   

“This is after an extremely challenging 2 years of GCSE where pupils and staff had to work relentlessly to ensure that gaps in learning from previous years were addressed. We have to acknowledge the commitment of students, staff and families who have to the hard work to support each other during this time” she added.

“We should also recognise that often, the staff team around students do not merely comprise of teachers, but there are many members of support staff who work tirelessly with individuals to encourage them and provide support to allow them to regularly attend school and lessons. There are many pupils who have relied on these staff members over the past two years.”

Mrs Horn added "There are too many individuals to mention that have been successful; many of our pupils worked hard to overcome adversity during and following the pandemic and will rightly be celebrating today.  Several of our pupils have been awarded the very highest grades and I’m delighted that their efforts were recognised in this way. 

“There will also be many staff who will enjoy the outcomes of our pupils and will be delighted to see them celebrate. So often, many people have gone over and above expectations to support and help and I am very grateful for such a caring and professional team of staff."

Lynsey Holzer, CEO of Active Learning Trust, shared her pride for the school, saying: “I’m delighted for our Year 11 students. These results are to be commended, especially considering the way in which students have had to navigate the disruption caused by the pandemic.

“I wish them all the very best for their next steps. My sincere thanks also to the staff and families who have supported them throughout their Cromwell journey.”
